Kan crouched on the 4th floor balcony of an abandoned building in the depths of Nar Shaddaa. He was looking through the scope of his shatter rifle at a Sith System Lord directing two sparring apprentices.
A month ago, Kan’s crew had begun to hear rumors of a Sith training academy hidden on Nar Shaddaa while they were on shore leave. He had taken little heed of them until one of the Hutts operating on the planet had expressed concern over his bounty hunters ending up dead with lightsaber marks scarring their bodies. After connecting the two, Kan sent his crew down to the planet for information on the whereabouts of this academy. During the month it took to find the academy, Kan learned that the Sith running the place was an undercover System Lord trying to find Force sensitives that the Republic and the Empire would have missed, due to them being in Hutt territory. Kan’s men had found the building only a day ago, and it had taken him very little time to acquire the layout and sneak in without being detected.
He focused the scope on the apprentice on the right, who appeared to be winning. Once the apprentice defeated his opponent, Kan would fire three shots, hitting the victorious apprentice, then the Sith Lord, then the defeated apprentice, if he was still alive. A minute later, just as predicted, the apprentice on the right stabbed the second one straight through the chest. A shot rang out a moment later, and a large hole appeared in the center of his head. A second shot rang out, and the Sith Lord raised his hand up in front of his eyes, as if to shield them from a bright light. Sparks flew from his hand, and the bullet ricocheted centimeters from Kan’s head.
“Shit!” Kan muttered as he lunged to the side. He holstered his rifle on his back and pulled out his force pike as the Lord jumped up to the balcony, his lightsaber glowing.
“That was my most promising student. I’m going to make your death slow and painful. Or I could throw you in a cage, and see which of my apprentices can kill you first. Yes, I think that would be an excellent training exercise. Now be a good victim and move as little as possible while I electrocute you into unconsciousness.”
The Sith raised his left hand and let loose a maelstrom of lightning from his fingertips aimed straight at Kan. The lightning dissipated half a meter in front of him, and Kan took this time to not the Sith’s incredible power, causing him to raise the setting on his force pike from ‘Knock Out Cold’ to ‘Gonna Wake Up With A Nasty Hangover And A Few Missing Nerve Endings’. The Sith ceased the lightning storm, looked at his hand, and shook it vigorously. Satisfied that nothing was wrong, the System Lord thrust his left arm toward Kan and his hand into a semi-circle, as if to grab someone’s neck, and then launched lightning from the hand holding his lightsaber. Unfazed, Kan began to saunter over to the Sith Lord, holding his force pike down at his side nonchalantly.
The Sith snarled and charged. He started his attack with a vertical slash, but Kan dodged out of the way and swiped at the Sith’s legs. The lightsaber knocked the force pike aside, and stabbed for Kan’s chest. Dodging to the left, Kan pushed the lightsaber away with his force pike, spun around and swung his weapon horizontally at the Sith’s head. The System Lord ducked and slammed his shoulder into Kan, launching him over the balcony.
Reacting quickly, Kan concentrated on the third floor balcony and unleashed the whipcord from his left gauntlet. The cord wrapped around the balcony and he swung into a room on the second floor. Kan released the whipcord, and then began to look around. The room he was standing in was an armory, containing all sorts of melee and ranged weapons. Kan’s face lit up in excitement when he noted a blaster cannon in the corner of the room. He dragged it over to face to doorway he had swung in from and placed himself behind the turret, set it to maximum stun and set his finger on the trigger.
The door was ripped violently from its frame seconds later, and the Sith Lord stepped into the doorway. He saw Kan and paused for a second, his head tilted slightly. Kan said a simple, “Your turn.” And then fired a blast at the Sith. The man’s eyes widened as a blast normally meant to be used against vehicles connected with his chest and sent him rocketing over the balcony. Kan ran after him and looked over the balcony. The System Lord was laying face down on the ground struggling to get back on his feet.
“What the hell?” Kan muttered to himself, “That would’ve killed most normal people… And he’s not even fully stunned…”
He shook his head, and then leapt from the balcony and on to the first floor. The Sith made an attempt to push Kan away with the Force as he landed, but it had no effect. Kan ran toward the Sith and brought his force pike down on the man’s back, causing him to slump to the ground, unconscious. Kan kneeled down next to the Sith, panting, and got on his comlink.
“Justice Unyielding, this is the Warden. I have my quarry, and will be arriving shortly. Prepare a cell.” Kan rubbed his chest where the Sith had slammed into him, “Also, remind me never to get into close combat with a System Lord. Ow…”
Kan picked up the Sith and hoisted him onto his shoulders, making his way back to his ship. Unknown to him, however, were two eyes at a child’s height, watching him leave from a dark corner of the building.

Kurs Janta approached the Kel Dorian carrying a Sith on his shoulders. He had just left a building Kurs had been watching for weeks. The instant Kan Rook noticed the Nautolan he dropped the Sith and went for his Force Pike.
"Calm down," said Kurs with a chuckle. "I'm not one of them." Kan relaxed a little, but not much. He still grasped his Force Pike. "And you know this isn't a mind trick because of your little friend on your back," continued Kurs. "Hmm, an obvious Force User with lightsabers," he replied, gesturing to Kurs' laser swords, "approaches me after I've taken down a System Lord. Yeah, let me be the first in line to trust you." "Very true. I am Jedi Ma-"
Suddenly two Sith apprentices burst out of the building, crimson blades drawn. Without hesitation the Jedi reached for the lightsabers on his belt and let his blue robes drop from his shoulders. He sliced through the first apprentice with one swipe of his violet sword as his blue blade met with the other apprentice's lightsaber. The Sith disconnected from Kurs and swung for another attack, but he stopped short. A blaster shot rang out, and a smoldering hole appeared in the young Sith's forehead.
"BOOM! HEADSHOT!" both men heard over Kurs's comlink. Kurs deactivated his sabers and turned back at Kan, who was lowering his Force Pike finally. "My name is Jedi Master Kurs Janta." "Kan Rook, Captain of the Justice Unyielding." "Pleased to meet you."
Both men turned to see a man with a jet pack lowering himself down. He dropped a couple feet into a kneeling position and looked up. "What's up? Ben Darklighter." He stood up and offered a hand out to the Kel Dorian. "I gotta hand it to you, you messed up those Sith hard. Almost gives me faith in non-Force Sensitives." Kan chuckled and turned to the Jedi. "So what do I owe, to be in the presence of a Jedi Master and his commando?" "We're the team the Jedi dispatched to bring an end to this facility, and capture the System Lord." "And I did your job for you?" "Yes. In a quarter of the time." "Good to hear." "Except that we need to take that Sith into custody," continued Kurs, gesturing at the Sith Lord, who was beginning to stir. Kan smacked the Sith almost immediately with his Force Pike. "This guy just won't give up. And I'm sorry, Master Jedi, but this man is now under my custody. I got the capture. He's my prisoner now." Kurs sighed. "I was afraid you'd say that. We at the very least need to interrogate him." "That I can arrange. Here are the coordinates for my ship. You may stay with us while we wait for our friend here to wake up." "Very well, see you there." Kan nodded and spoke into his comlink. "Justice Unyielding, this is Warden. Prepare two guest chambers as well."
Kurs and Ben began heading for their ship. "Do you trust him, Kurs?" asked Ben, as they approached the Praesidia IV. "Not at all. Did you see that Sith's saber on his belt? He's a trophy hunter. I've seen half a dozen or so across the galaxy. They hunt Force Users, and keep their swords as trophies." "This guy seemed different, though." "Yes Ben, I have the Force too." "Just sayin. He doesn't seem that bad." "I know. That's why I'm willing to go on board his ship," chuckled Kurs.
Both men boarded the Jedi's ship. As the ramp into the ship began to rise a short being raced towards the ship, and dove in, just as the ramp finally closed. The ship lifted from the ground, and soon shot out of Nar Shaddaa's atmosphere.

Justice’s Shadow docked almost simultaneously with the Jedi’s ship, so both the Nautolan and his commando were present when Kan dragged the Sith Lord out of the ship. When two guards rushed up to help him carry the Sith Kan said, “Put him in maximum security, cell 106.”
“Yes sir!” The guards replied, and began to carry the body off.
“Also,” Kan kept going, “Next shore leave, we’ll stop by the Nar Shaddaa Red Sector. Drinks are on me, but nothing else. We don’t want to go broke.”
The guards smiled, and exited the hangar with the unconscious Sith. The commando, Darklighter, turned to Kan. “Celebrating something?” He asked.
“This is our hundredth Sith; Its rather fitting that he’s the most powerful one yet. Come with me, I have to deposit his weapon while we wait for my men to wake him up.”
Kan exited the hangar, with Kurs and Darklighter following, and started towards the weapon depository.
“So, if this is your hundredth Sith, then why is he going in the hundred and sixth cell?” Kurs asked.
“A good question,” Kan answered, “You will find out in just a moment.”
They stepped into a turbolift, and after Kan pressed a button, they began to descend rapidly into the ship. A few moments of silence later, the turbolift opened to reveal a long hallway of large, dark grey doors with an organic guard to the right of each door and a guard droid to the left. Kan began walking down the hallway, silently noting the large red numbers covering the doors. When he reached the 42nd cell, Kan nodded at the human female standing guard over it, and she turned around. She entered a combination into the keypad associated with that door, and the door slid open. Kurs and Darklighter started forward, but Kan help up his hand and said, “Wait. Watch this.” The guard grabbed a baton used solely for this purpose off her belt and threw it into the room. Before it was 2 feet inside, a surge of electricity from the center of the room struck the baton, causing it to glow white hot and shoot across the cell, hitting a wall and clattering to the ground, hissing.
The woman had stepped aside, and Kan pressed his hand lightly over the keypad, beginning a scan. “It’s not only metal that it happens to. It just looks the best that way.” Kan remarked. “But enough trickery, this is what we are here for.”
The keypad beeped, and the back wall of the cell lifted to reveal a little over a hundred lightsaber hilts hanging there. Kan stepped inside the cell and made his way towards the wall of lightsabers. “It’s perfectly safe now, I promise. Of the 5 malfunctioning cells, this was the only one with a defect we could use to our advantage. We set up a system for controlling the electrical charges coming from the holding area itself, and now it serves as a fantastic trap for all who may seek to loot its treasures.” Gazing up at the wall, Kan continued, “There are a hundred and eleven lightsabers total on this wall, the number anomaly being caused by some of the Sith wielding two lightsabers. This lightsaber,” Kan twirled the System Lord’s saber hilt in his hand, “will make a fine addition to my collection.”
Kan placed the lightsaber on the wall and turned around to see the Nautolan about to speak. He was interrupted before he could however, by one of Kan’s guards.
“Captain!” The guard said, “MS 106 is awake.”
“Thank you Batu,” Kan acknowledged, “So Jedi, it seems that your interrogation is ready to begin. Come, I’ll show you to his cell.”

A smirk developed across Kurs's face. "Lovely. I'm looking forward to it."
Kurs looked across the room one last time, staring at the various lightsaber designs. Suddenly one caught his eye. "That lightsaber has a green blade, doesn't it?" Kan knew exactly which lightsaber the Nautolan meant. "Actually, yes, it does. I picked it up off of a Trandoshan bounty hunter." "That bounty hunter killed two Jedi," Kurs said solemnly. "That lightsaber belonged to Jedi Knight Jace Pardue." Kurs grabbed a hilt from his belt, activating the blue blade. "This lightsaber belonged to his other victim. My instructor and mentor." Kan looked over the Jedi carefully, not sure what to think. This had been the last thing he had expected from showing the Jedi his collection. "I can arrange for a second interrogation, if you wish?" "No, that will not be necessary. Revenge is not the Jedi way," spoke Kurs in contemplation, as he replaced the deactivated sword on his belt. "I would, however, like to purchase that lightsaber from you. It does not belong in a collection of malice such as this." Kan grabbed the saber hilt and tossed it at the Jedi. "It's yours. I have plenty of them anyway." Kurs smiled. "Thank you."
The three men left the room, and Kan escorted the two men to a separate floor of the ship. "We have placed the Sith in a special interrogation room for your use, Master Janta. Now if you will excuse me, I must retire to my quarters. I have to report the capture to my employers."
The Jedi nodded, and the Kel Dorian left the two men standing in front of a door guarded by two droids and two humanoids. "Ben, take my lightsabers. We don't need that Sith having access to any weaponry." "You got it, chief."
Kurs began to enter the room, and Ben cut off the guard turning to follow him. "Don't worry," he said with a smile. "This guy can handle this Sith on his own."
Kurs stepped into the room and found the Sith floating with energy cuffs holding his arms up and his legs down. The Sith could only move his head. "Ah, Master Janta, to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?" the Sith smirked upon seeing the Jedi Master. "Nothing too important. Just information about Sith recruitment techniques for Force users." The Sith laughed. "I know the order has been dying to have this conversation with me for ages. I must warn you, it is not a subject I intend to divulge willingly." "Oh, I know. I wasn't going to ask." "Careful, Master Janta. You are treading down a dark path."
Suddenly Kurs' eyes began to shift from black to a brilliant blue, a blue comparable to a lightsaber. "Release your thoughts, Lord Embra, and things will go much smoother." The Sith Lord's closed his eyes, preparing to defend against the Jedi's mental probing.

Kan reached his quarters and sat on his bed, massaging his chest. It was still throbbing from when the Sith had launched him over the balcony. He sighed and stood up, checking to make sure he looked presentable. Satisfied, he pressed a button on the wall opposite his bunk, and it turned a glossy black followed by 8 white squares placed evenly around the screen. Almost all at once, 8 Hutts appeared and began to speak. After a moment they stopped and realized they were also communicating with 7 other Hutts as well as Kan. Before they could voice their outrage, Kan spoke.
“Guess who has fantastic news? The Sith System Lord who has been plaguing all of you is incarcerated on my ship, and shall do you no more harm. Now, abou—“
Kan was interrupted by a communication from the bridge, “Excuse me, Captain, but there is an unauthorized transmission from the hangar bay.”
“One moment boys,” Kan said, and muted his connection to the Hutts, “What?! Is it encrypted?”
“No sir.”
“Well then what does it say?!”
“It’s says, “I have found where they are keeping Lord Embra. Lock on to me and send the fleet.”
Kan paused, “Send the WHAT?! F*#&! S@%^!! All crew to battle stations. Get our two guests to the bridge. NOW! F**************#&!”
Kan returned to the Hutts and unmuted himself. “Good news gentlemen. You don’t have to pay me. I do, however, have in mind an alternative form of recompense.”
10 minutes later, an alarm was sounding throughout the ship, and Kan was on the bridge staring out at space when the Jedi and the Commando were brought in. Before they could ask what was going on Kan turned and spoke.
“We’ve got a problem. The System Lord you just interviewed had a fleet nearby, and it’s on its way here. We’ve also got a student of his academy somewhere here that stowed away on one of our shi—“
The bridge intercom crackled and then a panicked voice came through, “Captain! There’s been a breakout in MS Cell 106! He’s releasing the other prisoners and heading for the turbolift! We can’t hold them all o—“
The connection died, and Kan’s hand massaged his forehead as he muttered, “Well this just keeps getting better and better.” Kan turned to Kurs and said, “Well Jedi, it would seem I’m about to have a full scale riot on my hands as well as a full scale battle above Nar Shaddaa. I would owe you a great debt if you two could help my men quell this riot while I save my ship from being blasted into nothingness. Plus, if he’s still alive, you can have the Sith Lord.”
Kurs smiled and replied, “Of course we can help you. Sith Lords are our specialty.”
The Captain of the Justice Unyielding sighed in relief. He walked over to a console and opened a drawer underneath. He pulled out two comlinks and threw them to Kurs and Darklighter. “Keep these with you,” Kan told them, “I’ll use them to direct you to where you are needed most. My guards are now on full alert and the ones who directed you here will go with you to the turbolift, but then must return to their posts. And thank you.”
With that, Kan turned away from the Jedi as he waited for the Sith Lord’s fleet to arrive.

As Kurs and Ben stood on the turbo-lift, the intercom chimed, and Kan's voice filled the ship.
"Any prisoners found outside of their cells will be subject to immediate and, most likely, lethal punishment. Thank you."
Ben smirked. "I guess that means I don't have to play nice." Kurs smiled back. "Get ready."
A chime sounded, the turbo-lift doors opened, and a dark hallway laid before the two men. Darklighter donned his helmet, a small squeal sounding from it as the electronics activated.
"I don't see anyone," he commented. "Yeah, I don't see much either." the Jedi replied, as he activated his lightsaber, illuminating the area with a violet hue.
Both men began search the area with the Force, looking for whoever might still be left. "I think everyone left," laughed Darklighter.
The men continued down the hallway, and a look of horror washed over their faces as they approached cell 42. The female guard from before was nowhere to be found, but Kurs noted the large pile of ash inside the trapped cell, and the door on the other side completely destroyed by hundreds of lightsaber slashes.
Ben grabbed his comm. "Hey, um, Kan? We have some bad news for you." "Whaat?!" spoke Kan, obviously annoyed. "They found a way into your fancy vault thing. Looks like they have lightsabers again." The Kel Dor let out a string of profanities in in native language before calming down. "I hope you guys were looking to work for your capture. It seems they've spread throughout the ship, releasing prisoners. I need you to help my guards stop them. Most of my guards are trained to take down Force-Sensitives, but some of these assholes are too strong for them." "Which is why I," laughed Ben as he pulled his rifle off of his back, "have a really big gun. Oh, and my rifle is pretty big too." Kurs smacked his forehead. "We'll take care of it." "Good. Take the turbo-lift back up a couple floors. There are two Sith near the escape pods causing all sorts of hell. Also, I've got the system lord heading toward the bridge, so if you could take care of that..." "You got it." "I've got a bad feeling about this," Ben laughed.
The two made it quickly to the first trouble makers. They appeared to be two human Sith warriors, and they had a pile of dismembered bodies laying in front of them. As they saw the Jedi and commando, they both activated their swords. "Kurs, I've got this. Go take care of Kan's problem." Kurs nodded, and headed off.
"You're going to need that Jedi," laughed one of the Sith. "Your little toys won't stop us, commando."
Both Sith lunged for Ben, who dove through their attack, dropping a grenade as he leaped. The flash grenade erupted, and both Sith staggered back, the light tearing through their eyes. Ben turned and drew out his pistols, popping off a dozen shots within seconds. One of the Sith dropped, blaster holes riddling his body. The other managed to deflect the attacks, and with watering eyes he lunged at the commando again. Ben dropped his shoulder, and the Sith flipped over Darklighter, landing hard on his back. Ben then popped off another few shots with his pistols, before dropping to dodge a deflected bolt. The Sith jumped to his feet, and started attacking Ben yet again, the commando barely dodging the laser sword's movements. Ben then kicked the Sith back, dropping his pistols in the process. He grabbed a detonator from his belt and tossed it at the Sith. As it flew through the air it because encased in a layer of ooze, and hit the Sith on the chest. The warrior helplessly grabbed at the grenade, but found it permanently attached to his robes, until the moment that the electronic whine hit its climax, and he was engulfed in a fiery death. Following the blast, Ben stood back up, cracking his fingers, and grabbed his pistols from the ground, re-holstering them as he headed back toward the turbo-lift.
Meanwhile, Kurs found himself approaching the bridge. In front of the blast-doors leading to the bridge stood the System Lord and two other Sith, as well as a pile of bodies. The System Lord turned away from watching the two Sith cutting through the blast doors to greet Kurs. "Master Jedi, how nice of you to join us." "My pleasure." "Our last meeting was so unpleasant. Allow me to return that favor."
The two warriors pulled their swords out of the blast-door and turned toward Kurs, dashing forward to attack the Jedi. Kurs knelt down, smashing his fist into the floor, sending both warriors flying back, their bodies smashing into the walls of the ship. The System Lord sneered and activated his lightsaber. "Lord Embra, is that fear I feel from you?" smiled Kurs. "No wonder you enjoy the Dark Side so much."
Darth Embra cried out in rage and dashed at the Jedi, who quickly drew his own saber and blocked the attacked. Kurs then pushed the Sith away with the Force, and jumped at the man with his saber as the Sith recovered. Embra blocked the incoming attack and retaliated with his own. Kurs soon found himself being pushed back as he deflected a flurry of attacks. The Sith's rage increased with each swing, and soon his brooding hatred of the Jedi was all the he could feel. The power behind each attack steadily grew each swing, and Kurs was growing more fatigued with each parry. This went on for several moments before both of the duelists heard a voice.
"Die you son of a bantha fucker!" screamed Ben as he unloaded several shots at the Sith.
Embra disengaged from Kurs, kicking him away as he turned toward Ben, deflecting the shots. Finally he swung at a bolt, and it found its way right into Darklighter's shoulder. The Sith then unleashed a furious lightning attack upon the commando, who could do nothing at the electricity surged into his body. Kurs yelled and tackled the Sith, who was forced to stop electrocuting the soldier. Ben laid on the ground, groaning as smoke rose from his armor.
Kurs attacked the Sith again with his sword, and Embra deflected each attack. He kicked the Jedi back and unleashed a lightning attack upon Kurs. The Nautolan blocked the attack with his blade, and shot at the Sith with the Force, a surge of gravity shoving the Sith back several feet. Both men then ran at each other again, locking swords again before they began another whirlwind of attacks.
Suddenly both men stopped short. A burning sensation filled Kurs's whole body as watched the crimson blade of his opponent pierce his chest. His lungs were on fire as Embra removed the blade from the Nautolan, and Kurs could do nothing but drop his own sword and fall to his knees. Ben, who was standing back up cried out at the sight, and began firing off shots as best he could at the Sith. Kurs fell to his side, and soon the whole scene became dark to him.

The Hutt fleet was almost in place. Kan paced on the bridge impatiently, barely restraining himself from joining his guards in quelling the riot. He knew that he would be needed to direct the squabbling Hutts soon, and if he wasn’t on the bridge that wasn’t going to happen. Kan eyed the door that led to side room containing the bridge’s siege supplies. He silently hoped that the situation would not be dire enough to need that equipment. As he turned on his heel to begin crossing the room again, a hissing noise erupted from the blast door leading to the rest of the ship. The metal began to glow orange as lightsabers began to burn through from the other side. Kan swore, and turned to one of his officers.
“I want to see what is happening on the other side of that door!” He yelled. Kan needed the Jedi to arrive soon. He couldn’t afford any distractions while directing the battle above Nar Shaddaa. A section of the wall flickered, and then showed two Sith burning through the door as the System Lord, Darth Embra, stood watching.
“Dammit.” Kan muttered. Then, louder, “Nal, Zadra, go into the siege room and grab two repeaters for yourselves, and the Oppressor for me. If the Jedi doesn’t get here soon, we’re going to need to take matters into our own hands.” The two guards nodded and ran into the siege room as Kan looked back at the screen. The Nautolen had arrived, and launched the two Sith that had been burning through the door against the wall, killing them. Kan cheered inwardly, and was about to belay the order to grab the weapons when an officer called, “Warden! Multiple signatures detected just outside the system! They’ll be here in ten minutes!”
“Thank you, Kull. Open a line of communication to the Hutts.” The screen showing the battle between the two Force users was replaced by the eight Hutts whose fleets were preparing for battle above the planet.
“Hello there, gentlemen.” Kan began, “The enemy fleet will arrive in ten minutes. From what we can tell, the fleet sizes are about the same, so we’re going to be hard pressed to win this one. Lucky for me, I have the eight most powerful Hutts in the system fighting with me. In the course of your wars with each other, you have acquired weapons the Sith haven’t heard of and the Republic military considers too dangerous to use. You have equipment designed solely to kill things faster than anything and everything both the Sith and the Republic have. I know you trade to both sides, but I also know you keep the best weapons, ships, shields, and armor for yourselves. This is why we are going to win this battle. You all have your preliminary instructions. I will be in touch as needed. Warden out.”
The screen flicked back to outside the blast door, just in time to show Kurs getting stabbed by Darth Embra. Kan roared and grabbed the Oppressor Nal was holding out for him. The three of them ran over to the blast door and as it opened Kan said, “Start shooting the second you see him. Don’t stop for anything.” They nodded and readied their Mark VIII Thunderbolt repeaters, easily lifting the weapon despite it normally being meant for a bipod. The door opened to reveal Embra standing over an unconscious Kurs, with his hand stretched out behind him to hold Darklighter against the wall with the Force.
“There seems to still be some life in you, Jedi. I can fix tha—“ The Sith was saying. Before he could finish his sentence though, a flurry of blaster bolts erupted from both repeaters. The Sith dropped a gasping Darklighter and began furiously deflecting the incoming lasers.
“Come now, bounty hunter,” Embra laughed, “Surely you can do better than this. I could deflect these all day.”
Kan scowled underneath his mask, pointed his Oppressor at Darth Embra and yelled, “Deflect this, bitch!”
A jet of flame streamed from the end of Kan’s gun headed straight for the Sith. Kan, Nal, and Zadra slowly advanced on Embra, forcing him to keep stepping backwards to avoid being set on fire as he continued to deflect the blaster bolts. He backed into an open turbolift at the end of the hall, and just as Kan’s flames were about to engulf him said, “We’ll finish this later, bounty hunter. And let your Jedi friend know that I’ll be back for him to.” That said, Embra activated the turbolift with the Force and shot down to the lower levels.
Kan wasted no time after that. “Nal! Zadra!” He commanded, “Grab the projectors from the siege room and set up a temporary force field in this hallway. I don’t want anything getting to the bridge without my permission." They responded with a, “Yes Warden!”, and ran back to the bridge and turned toward the siege room. Kan hurried over to Darklighter, who was crouching over Kurs, concentrating intently.
“What are you doing?” Kan asked.
“Trying to heal him.” Darklighter responded, “I specialized in it back in the day.”
Kan nodded, “Well, when you reach your limits, there are bacta tanks in the siege room, just off the bridge. Place him in one of those and my men will take care of the rest. And if you feel up to it, we could use you back in the fray in the lower areas of the ship.”
Darklighter nodded, still concentrating on the Jedi’s inert form. Kan returned to the bridge to see his two security officers lugging a large portable force field projector towards the hallway. He sighed, and turned back to the view screens. Just as he was about to check how much time had passed, an alert sounded, and the Sith fleet came in to view.
Kan closed his eyes for a second, and then opened them again. When the view didn’t change, he let out a quiet, “Fuck.”. The Sith fleet was twice as large as they had anticipated. They were in a lot of trouble.

Kurs coughed sharply as Ben stood over him. "Welcome back to the living, Master Janta," Ben spoke with a smile. "Hey, can I get some help getting this guy into a tank? I kinda got shot, ya know!"
Two guards rushed over and helped lift up the Nautolan. They carried him to the siege room, the commando following. As they stripped the Jedi's armor off, Darklighter looked around at the weapons stored within the room. A guard laughed as he caught the man practically drooling over the arsenal in front of him. "You can use anything you'd like."
"I want that one," he spoke, giddy as a child, pointing at a large chain gun. "Ah, the FL-15 Saw Anti-personnel Blaster. You know it takes two hands to handle that thing, and you have that shoulder in-" "I don't care. I want it. Now."
The guard laughed and pulled it off the wall. With a small groan, Ben grabbed the gun, ignoring the shooting pain from the wound in his shoulder, and smiled as he held it there. "She's so beautiful."
He then put the gun down and helped them load Kurs into the bacta tank. "This bacta bath will be just what you need, Kurs. And I'll be back here shortly to check on you. Now relax, doctor's orders." The Nautolan sighed and coughed sharply at the comment, and then the commando shut the door to the tank, watching it fill up with the healing liquid. "Now let's go see what we can do to help Kan," he smiled at the guards as they headed back to the bridge.
"Sir!" one of the people sitting at a console of the bridge spoke up, catching the attention of the warden. "We have tracked Embra to the Escape Pod Bay. It appears he's attempting to hack his way into allowing a pod to leave." "Just let them go, we can shoot them down as they escape." "But sir-" "He just escaped from my holding cells, retrieved his weapon, nearly broke into the bridge, AND he almost killed a Jedi Master-" "Actually Master Janta is on the Council too," interjected Darklighter. "The point is, I don't want him on my damn ship anymore."
Four pods jettisoned from the Justice Unyielding, and the ship's auto turrets began to target them. Suddenly a swarm of Sith fighters greeted the pods, firing at the auto-turrets targeting them. "Disengage! We don't need those fighters shooting down our turrets. He isn't worth this trouble," an annoyed Kan Rook sat, brooding over the escape of his prisoners. "Hey Kan, if I could offer some advise," Ben spoke up again. "The Jedi might be willing to protect you for a bit if you plot a course for Yavin. You know, just in case this whole full-scale battle between the Sith and the Hutts goes sour." Kan groaned. "I'm gonna go quell a riot now," the commando smiled, grabbing his new over-sized gun and heading towards the turbo-lift. As soon as he was out of sight, Kan spoke, "Who the hell gave him that gun?! Do you have any idea what that guy is gonna do to my ship?!"

A few moments after Darklighter left the bridge Kan returned to focusing on the space battle. He and the Hutts had held out well for a while, but the tide was beginning to turn against them. He watched as the ship captained by one of the Hutts leading the makeshift armada was blown to pieces by the System Lord’s capital ship, and reluctantly decided to take Darklighter’s advice. He would have to go hide with the Jedi for a little while. Kan turned to his Zabrak navigator and said, “Navigator Teral, get us out of here; plot a course for Yavin. It seems we’re going to have to hide with the Jedi if we’re going to live through this disaster." Teral nodded and the ship began to turn away from the planet, charging up the hyperdrive engines. A Sith frigate noticed them trying to flee and began firing on the prison ship.
The Justice Unyielding’s shields flickered as each blast connected, the prison ship offering no resistance as it redirected weapon power to charge the hyperdrive faster. Finally one of Kan’s officers yelled, “Hyperdrive fully charged! Ready to go to lightspeed on your mark, Warden!”
Kan was about to give the order when he saw the shields flicker one last time and then disappear. A second later, a concentrated blast from the Sith frigate tore a hole clean through one of the decks in the midst of the riot. Kan flipped on the viewscreen to show all the cameras on the deck. Only one remained functioning, and it showed the last few seconds of 30 guards that had been holding out as they got sucked into the vacuum of space. Kan froze, and his hands clenched into fists, trembling with nearly uncontrollable rage.
“Turn around.” He told the navigator. The Zabrak looked at Kan in astonishment and opened his mouth to speak, but Kan interrupted him, “I said turn around. I am going to turn that frigate, and everyone on it, into dust. Keep our engines primed to leave.”
The navigator obliged, his hands shaking in fear of the Warden’s anger, and turned the ship so it and the frigate were parallel. “I want concentrated bursts from the ion cannons, all in one spot.” Kan ordered. The ion cannons fired, their blue color mixing with the red of the Sith frigate’s return fire as the lasers crossed. The frigate’s shields flashed and died under the barrage from Kan’s modified ion cannons as many of the empty decks of the Justice Unyielding were perforated by the Sith lasers.
“Fire everything we’ve got at the bridge.” Kan commanded, “And then take out the main guns. After that, keep firing until no single piece of that ship is bigger than my head.” An officer turned to Kan as the prison ship decimated the Sith frigate’s bridge. “Warden, sir,” The officer said, “don’t you thing that might be a bit of overkill?”
Still staring intently out of the viewing windows at the swiftly dwindling frigate, Kan replied, “No.”
A little over a minute later, the Sith frigate was no more than a floating field of tiny debris. “Take us to Yavin, Teral.” Kan said, “Then once things die down, we'll meet with my contacts on Toyderia and get ourselves repaired.”
