Kan stood on the bridge of his ship, the Justice Unyielding, and gazed through the viewing glass at the stars. This view was always so serene; Kan could gaze at it for hours in contemplation and be perfectly content. Unfortunately, whenever he got the chance to do so, he was always interrupted by something. And sure enough, not 5 minutes after entering his reverie:
“Sir, we’re receiving a message from Tatooine. Its Joonka.”
Kan sighed. “Wonderful. Of all the Hutts… Put him through.”
The beautiful view Kan had been staring at was replaced by the image of a particularly grotesque Hutt. Most people considered all Hutts loathsome and hated dealing with them. Kan agreed, but after 10 years of dealing with just about every Hutt in the cartel, he had noticed that certain Hutts were worse than others. And Joonka was the foulest Hutt Kan had ever encountered. It was unfortunate that he was one of the less corrupt ones; Kan really wanted to shove him in a cell and never see the oversized worm again.
Joonka began to speak, and the ship’s computer immediately began to translate into common. “Kan Rook! My favorite warden! How is your little operation going?”
Kan’s eyes narrowed. He was not fond of having his prison made fun of. “What do you want Joonka? You didn’t contact me for idle conversation.”
Joonka laughed, “Ohohoho, to the point as always, I like that. I have a problem Kan Rook. There are three Sith in my territory killing everything that moves. They’ve already killed one of my mining settlements, which has set my profits bac--”
“Yes, yes, I don’t care about your profit margin Joonka.” Kan interrupted, “But I’ll take care of them. Wire the credits to my account as usual.”
Joonka opened his mouth to speak again, but Kan cut the transmission before he could do so. Turning his attention the navigational officer, Kan said, “Put us in a low orbit over Tatooine and prepare three of the special cells. I’ll be bringing back guests.”
Fifteen minutes later Kan was flying down to the last known coordinates of the three Sith. His ship touched down on the outskirts of a quarry, and saw three humans in black robes standing in the middle of a field of corpses. Two of them had what looked like miners floating in front of them, and the other was standing next to them laughing. The laughing Sith noticed Kan land and walked over as his comrades continued tormenting the floating miners.
Kan calmly climbed out of his ship and began to slowly walk toward the oncoming figure.
“A new victim!” The Sith laughed, “Finally!” He stretched out his arm and made a pincer motion with his hand, like he was grasping a neck. He looked confused as Kan continued approaching, thanks to the Ysalamir hidden in the back of his armor.
“You are under arrest for mass murder.” Kan said still walking forward, “You can choose to surrender peacefully or to fight. Either way you will end up in one of my cells. Your choice.”
The Sith yelled and thrust both of his hands out, causing lightning to shoot out of them and race toward the approaching warden. Half a meter from the front of Kan’s body the lightning fizzled out, and Kan pulled out and activated his force pike.
“Very well then.” Kan said, “The hard way it is.”
The Sith activated his lightsaber and lunged toward Kan, his jump extended using the Force. Kan stepped to the side and brought the force pike colliding with the Sith’s stomach before he could realize that he wasn’t able to anticipate Kan’s moves like he could other beings’. After a decade of fighting Sith, Kan had learned to hide his thoughts from his opponents. The unfortunate human collapsed as the force pike’s energy incapacitated him, causing his two allies to look over at Kan. Noticing their fallen friend, they yelled at started running to avenge him.
Despite the Ysalamir and the ability to hide his thoughts, Kan would not easily be able to take on two Sith in melee combat. To help even the odds, he pulled out his pistol and shot at the leg of the Sith on the left. The man tried to deflect the bullet like it was a laser, but missed because the bullet was much smaller and faster than a blaster bolt. The Sith collapsed with a new hole in his leg as his ally continued charging.
Lightsaber and force pike clashed. Kan sidestepped a vertical slash and replied with a stab to the chest. It was deflected, and the Sith stabbed at Kan’s face. The Kel Dor knocked the lightsaber to the left and slammed the pommel of the force pike into the Sith’s chest. The human stumbled backward and raised his lightsaber above his head for another attack. Kan pressed a button on his right gauntlet and a wire shot out, binding the Sith’s wrists together and causing him to drop his lightsaber.
“Night, night” Kan said as he tapped the bound man with his force pike. The other Sith got back up and started limping away, trying to escape. The warden shook his head, disappointed. Another cord shot out, from his left wrist this time, and bound the fleeing man’s legs together. Kan knocked the man out with his force pike, and started dragging him back toward Justice’s Shadow. He got to the ship and activated the comm. “I’m on my way back with the three Sith. Prepare for my arrival.”
